face, in particular.

We are complex creatures. We shout

Gee Mr. Ransom, do you really view life like this, and the human form this way? Some remind me of "dirty doodles" from the junior high days. Broken Heart is grotesquely sad. Your protrait is good, but why to you feel the need to smudge over faces? You could be a good artist some day if you stop using your paintings for shock value's sake.

Why yes, I left my name.. Amazing how some people can leave negative and derogative comments, yet not have the courage to state their name.

Though what's in a name..

So, this is an American site, and how blatantly obvious that is, too. I googled for "broken heart" as an image, and it lead me here.. How very disappointing it was indeed, not to see such wonderful artwork, but to see the immature & ill conceived opinions stated here.

Things such as "jesus saved you nd ur family.." What the fuck, I do agree, Christian's are so easy to rattle.
Apparently they can criticise and attack anything in the name of god, yet can't handle a painting?

Jesus saved us, and our families..? ..Then what about the countless thousands slaughtered in the crusades.. In the name of God? Hmmmm... I'm getting too religious here... Moving on..

Tis terribly depressing, to see someone wish to quell anothers artistic intent.. "Keep what's bubbling below the surface.. bubbling below the surface."

What has the world come to when you can not express yourself?
-sigh-

Dismissing all others opinions, I think the work is great. G r e a t . Perhaps even excellent. All art work is done for purpose, tis often a manifestation of ones thoughts, emotions, past, present, future: self.

In that regard, all art should be respected, it is that persons right to produce it, and as with my writing, it may very well be the scar tissue left from the wound...

And with that, i'll go back to said writing..
That is all.
I'll start with the fact that I too am a Christian. I do not hide it and I hope that all who meet me and see my art will recognize that fact. I do, however have an appreciation for the work you have done. My latest portfolio delt with the same type subjects portrayed in similar sometimes equally "grotesque" variations. I'd say keep exploring. Although our deepest roots come out since the first time we pick up a crayon I think you statements will become even more resounding as you continue. Very interesting work. As for the Savior thing, narrow is the path and few are those who find it.

Hi,
I'd like to say that I enjoyed the pieces. My favorite is the portrait of joel. it tells me that it is finished. Some of the others do not. I would like to point out to some of the people leaving comments, that there are a number of paintings with full arms which disproves the myth that you amputee out of necessity not choice. I feel that in some pieces the blood is too obvious a choice. In some it works terrifically, but in others it distracts. I would also like to say that the only people who leave nasty comments are the ones who have never once painted a picture that matches their heart. Those who say you're ripping off Egon need to back off. You are not duplicating his work. When artists paint realist works they are not accused of copying ingres or michaelangelo. We all start somewhere, and if these are your early paintings we should all look forward to the ones to come later in your life. I'm not blown away yet, but you wouldn't be blown away by my work either. We all have somewhere to go, I'm glad to see that you're on your way.
sincerely,
austin.

ps: do not reply to those who leave you bad comments, but do not reply to those who give you unflawed praise either. when we learn our faults we grow tremendously. We should all promote constructive honest thoughts, not abridged thoughts edited by kindness.

pps: to those who yell depression: crude imagery does not damn the artist to depression, it only annotates a grievance with a portion of reality.

A revision. I've completed looking through your website which I previously didn't know existed. Now I'm impressed. Everything else sticks. My favorite still happens to be the portrait of joel above. However, the one of Ro is surprisingly charming in its incredible content of structural information through a minimal number of strokes. Also the one of the people at the river is beautiful, and the breast/torso of "st. sebastian as a woman" is supreme gorgeousness. Thanks. -austin

what does your painting mean to you? why do they look with so much blood? honesly i love your painting. i draw my own drawings and i like them to be unique, but all my friends say they are to weird and violent. i just draw what i live and what i see around me.

I think your stuff is extraordinary, i would like to take issue with the condemnation of your work that many people here have offered, labelling you as a "shock artist". although i think gratuity in the arts and media can be a very harmful thing, shocking imagery can and should be used to stimulate the observers awareness to the many horrible things that exists within and without of the human condition. you achieve this with admirable strength.

this is not the only thing i like about your work, but taking into consideration the volume of responses you have recieved, i will leave it at that.
Mr. Ranson your artwork is very deep and breath taking. I'm only 21 yrs old and I'm doing a college critique. I can relate to many of your portraits and feel the passion you put into them. The WORLD needs more artist's like you who doesn't hide the truth behind pretty colors and rainbows. Maybe when I get my own place,I can buy an oringinal.
