Shawn Stucky

image "extraction-STRUGGLE" Mixed Media 2008

Shawn Stucky creates amazing screenprints on a variety of surfaces, most involving Victorian and Edwardian era characters in surreal situations. What is more amazing is that he is color blind, which seems to be an asset more than a hindrance, and it sets him apart from other printmakers. He recieved a BFA from The Illinois Institute of Art and has shown throughout Chicago, England, Italy, Holland and Iceland.

From his statement: "I have a strong bond between music, feelings, and my experiences in life. For me, music can create feelings that I cannot manage to put into words, but feel compelled to create art that gives those feelings a tangible form. My style incorporates music because it acts as a catalyst for many unnamed emotions that I know I share with others. Because of that unity in emotion, I am continually inspired to create art that inspires a person to visit a familiar, but unnamed emotion."

His next show will be at @ Loyola Museum of Art in Chicago for the "Art of Democracy" group show on Septmember 26th. Check out his site and order some nifty limited edition prints for yourself as well!

Cool stuff! I like the electric heads transforming into butterfly. Interesting concept for sure.
