Leftover Crack Vs. Citizen Fish

Leftover Crack X Citizen Fish
“Deadline”
(Fat Wreck)

Not since Green Day’s Dookie have I appreciated an album’s artwork for its sheer simplicity and child-like configuration.

Not since Green Day’s Dookie have I appreciated an album’s artwork for its sheer simplicity and child-like configuration. And that’s to say nothing of the ridiculously comforting pub band/Brit punk/Ska sound of the two respective bands who merge the surf punk guitar work of Dead Kennedys with the interminable energy-driven Oi-wank attitude of anti-establishment acts like The Clash and Sex Pistols.

Waxing experience-based intellectual on subjects like living on the dole, sucking dick for peace and generally eating shit from the Hierarchy, the two bands blast us in the face with a dose of real reality, the kind that the networks don’t have time for…and certainly don’t want people knowing about. Awareness equals suicide for the Company.

Deadline sparkles with sincere upheaval and a queer balance of warm recollection and pure vitriole. You can see Dick and Sturg at the turnstile, stomping Doc Marten knock-offs and pounding shots to stifle the decline. Good show!!—Bob Freville
