Density entwines webs

of parallel existence 

thick in the heart 

of the inner city. 

 

Parallel webs of existence 

mix thick in the dense mosaic.    

Endless characters coexist 

on the long list: students, 

socialists, tourists, fundamentalists, 

sado-masochists, actresses, pimps, 

press agents, company presidents, 

lesbians burning incense 

there's endless residents. 

Screenwriters, fly-by-nighters, 

gamblers, grifters so many scene shifters 

hustlers, house wives, shoplifters, 

quick cash seekers, judicial readers, 

attendants checking parking meters, 

bums drinking liters, old men in wife beaters. 

These are the comical leaders 

of urban fable sharing the air 

in the beautiful built environment 

we call Los Angeles. 

 

Density entwines webs 

of parallel existence 

thick in the heart 

of the inner city. 

 

Westside ‘wood rats 

old folks crossing Fairfax 

past drive-through check cash 

Lakeside spatial mismatch 

Culver green crossbacks 

the multi-cultural people mass 

keeps inching along urban arteries 

this is density- density 

congesting mid-city karaokes 

around Alvarado fake ID’s 

39 cents at Mickey-D’s 

the bus benches frontin 

Frosty’s Freeze 

seeing Washington Socrates 

bicycling Ballona Creek 

to Venice Beach- 

Density! 

 

Density entwines webs 

of parallel existence 

thick in the heart 

of the inner city. 

 

Bouncing back Banana Bungalow 

achieving archipelagoes 

past Palisade fern grottos 

as the panoramic fronds of palms 

are calming Tom Collins 

Who's Sunset Strip sipping. 

The neon supersemiotics                                                                            

punctuates the power of place 

in the distinctive social space 

you call your own home- 

deciphering diction in 

the landscape vernacular.

I liked this. It made me feel as if I were in LA, and I have never been. Quite an elaborate description of the many different persons and places and things that make up the city. Or should i say, Density?

Excellent flow of thoughts. Very convincing proof that America(LA) is a melting pot. I'm just sorry that it takes tragedy for humans to reach out to one another. We're basically all the same, at least physically. Our differences are what makes life interesting. Things like color, creed, nationality and religion seem to be the biggest barriers against communication. Everyone is a critic, and I can't say I agree with all points of view but I do respect everyone's opinion.
