July 12th at 7pm - Bee Funny: Standup+Spelling Bee

Bee Funny is a comedy show with smashingly funny comedians battling each other for the headlining spot, in the most brutal of all arenas...A SPELLING BEE.

Who will win the glory?  Whoever can spell it.

The irrepressible Guy Branum (Chelsea Lately, Totally Biased, Talk Show the Game Show) judges, and also provides the contestants with their word used in a sentence, in the form of an insult about the contestant's mother.

July 14th at 9pm - This Tour Is So Gay

Comedian and author Sara Benincasa has gathered together hilarious, funny people to tell amazing stories that will make you giggle and blow your mind. Special handsome guests include Dave Ross (Terrified podcast), Jake Weisman (Funny or Die), Yassir Lester (Nerdist podcast) and Ian Harvie (Amazon's "Transparent). 

And why is this show so gay? Well, Sara's donating all her proceeds from ticket sales to LifeWorks is the youth development and mentoring program of the LA Gay & Lesbian Center! So come laugh for a good cause, you wacky scamps.

July 15th at 7pm - Writer's Guild Foundation presents Genre Smash

Ben Edlund created his satirical comic book superhero, THE TICK, while he was still in high school – then continued to write and draw issues while he attended film school at the Massachusetts College of Art. Later, The Tick debuted as an animated series on Fox.

Soon, Ben was working with Joss Whedon on shows like ANGEL and FIREFLY, writing episodes of VENTURE BROTHERS, and adding characters to Whedon's web series DR. HORRIBLE'S SING-ALONG BLOG. He has also written for POINT PLEASANT, SUPERNATURAL and REVOLUTION. To each series, Ben has brought his unique blend of sidesplitting humor and high-concept plotting.

Ben joins us at the NerdMelt Showroom for the next installment of GENRE SMASH! on July 15.



July 15th at 9pm - What's New with Christian Spicer

NETumorHumor is a comedy benefit sponsored by Nerdist to raise awareness for a very rare form of cancer and funds for a research program at Cedars Sinai. This event will have a raffle including prizes like a Voicemail from Steve Blum the Voice of Optimus Prime, an autographed copy of The Nerdist Way from Chris Hardwick and much more! This event will also premiere the trailer for the Documentary "Road to Azeroth" produced by Chris Hardwick & Andie Bolt that follows Andie's Mom, a NET patient, and how she copes with her battle against cancer by fighting battles alongside her community in World of Warcraft.
